Rep. Deb Haaland (D-New Mexico) offers remarks at a reception in Washington, D.C., on January 3, 2019. The reception, held at a hotel on Capitol Hill, was organized in honor of Haaland and Rep. Sharice Davids (D-Kansas). Haaland and Davids are the first two Native women to serve in the U.S. Congress. The reception took place after Haaland and Davids were sworn in to their seats in the 116th Congress.
