A cop once honored as Louisiana’s Trooper of the Year has been busted by his own colleagues for producing child porn, the department said.

Louisiana State Police trooper Jason Boyet, 41, was snared by the force’s Special Victims Unit working a tip about someone “producing and distributing pornographic images on a web-based application,” the department said in a release Wednesday.

“Through investigative means, Agents identified Boyet as the online user and placed him into custody following an interview,” the department said, revealing that the FBI also helped the investigation.

Boyet found himself behind bars almost exactly two years after he was recognized as State Trooper of the Year, the release said.

The 20-year law enforcement veteran is married and a father of three, WWLTV reports.

No further details or clarifications were given to his alleged crimes. Police insisted the “investigation remains ongoing with the potential for additional charges.”

Boyet was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail, court records show, with WWLTV saying he was later moved into protective custody at another facility.

He was also placed on administrative leave, with all law enforcement property and gear recovered, police said.
