Amy Cordalis, general counsel for the Yurok Tribe, performs a song in the Yurok language to open the Equator Prize 2019 Award Ceremony in New York City, New York, on September 24, 2019.

The Yurok Tribe received the United Nation's Equator Prize in recognition of its efforts to protect its homelands in northern California.

The tribe is the first Indian nation to win the prestigious award.
