The most effective way to spread the movement for women’s rights is to share what matters most to you. The holiday season is a great time to sit together with your loved ones and share why you march. Do the people who matter most in your life know why justice and equality matter so much as well?

We all have powerful motivators to pull us into the streets to march for justice and equity. For some, it’s the urgent need to save our country and planet for our children of all genders; for others it’s our personal experiences with the sexism and misogyny that infest our culture; and for some, one reason could never encompass our commitment to women’s rights.

These motivators aren’t just powerful for us -- they’re powerful for those we love. Sharing your reasons for marching is the best way to recruit more marchers. It brings us together on a bedrock of shared values, and shows us the truth of Lilla Watson’s words, that our liberation is bound up with one another’s. It may even give voice to shared experiences and inspire others with the courage to speak what has long gone unspoken.
