Verna Teller, Chief Justice for the Pueblo of Isleta, delivers the opening prayer in the U.S. House of Representatives on November 13, 2019.



“Creator and Great Mother, bless those standing before you, who carry a sacred trust to all of us who inhabit Turtle Island, our homeland," Teller said around 12pm Eastern on Wednesday.



Teller is the first Native person to deliver the invocation, according to Rep. Deb Haaland (D-New Mexico).
