On Sunday, May 10, 2020, Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Chairman Harold Frazier discussed his decision to stand firm and continue operating checkpoints on roads leading onto his tribe's reservation even as SD Gov. Kristi Noem threatened to take down those checkpoints two days earlier.
